Pros

-Abundance of PTO -Half Day Fridays -Good springboard to gain experience while searching for more fulfilling work elsewhere.

Cons

-Poor management. There would be training opportunities for new engineers and management would only interact when something was wrong with your work. -There’s an air of a laid back atmosphere but people are extremely touchy and will talk behind others backs or report to HR at the drop of a hat. -Not competitive salary at all, entry level design engineers come in making 55k with an engineering degree. -People are forced to be billable even when there is no billable work to be done. I spent more time figuring out where I was going to allocate my time so management wouldn’t “get me” than doing actual work. -On the job training consisted of taking a report template and copy and pasting information gathered from field engineers rather than actually understanding various engineering aspects. Engineers treated as data entry fodder rather than engineers. -Benefits were rather poor

Pros

Flexible working hours and location - come into the office 1 day/wk or less Chicago office has a gym and nice building

Cons

I was told that I would be a Project Engineer, but management decided to downgrade my role to Design Engineer I without informing me. I was given only positive feedback, only to find out when leaving that I was not meeting expectations. No formal performance review process from HR. Pay is below industry standard. Had several HR complaints about team members becoming angry when trying to learn new concepts, sending inappropriate messages, and not providing the training they promised. If you want a role in a stable industry that does not offer much in terms of social interactions or career growth, this is a reasonable role. If you want to achieve more, feel valued, and feel comfortable in the workplace, look elsewhere.
