Pros

ERM provides a great environment for new graduates to learn about a diverse set of industries and develop crucial skills and knowledge. There are opportunities to engage in very interesting and large scale projects around the world. Relocating to new locations within the company is a fairly painless exercise although more difficult if you have a niche skill set that doesn't transfer well.

Cons

The company is generally built around its partners (each has equity vested in the company) in terms of where focus is placed. Younger staff are largely used as 'foot soldiers' for higher profits, which predominately goes to the partners and private equity investors. ERM's strategy has pushed it into fewer, but larger accounts with key clients whom are predominately oil and gas and mining companies. This reduction in client diversity results in a boom & bust cycle in line with the oil and gas industry. Additionally, there is a stark divergence between ERM's mission 'to be the world's leading sustainability consultant' and its actual work, which is primarily helping oil, gas and mining to improve their operations - a distinctly non-sustainable end result.

Pros

Cool projects. Diversity of work

Cons

Basically every 15 minutes need to be billed to a client. If not you will be penalized even if they say you’re doing great.
