Cons

The problems start at the top. The CEO is highly involved in every project, but provides unclear instructions, unreal expectations, and spreads confusion to everyone. The HR department also spreads fear to employees due to constantly watching and questioning every move. They are only nice to seek out information. The turnover at this company is unreal, and you can expect at least 2 rounds of layoffs every year due to "re-org or restructuring" because the company wants to try different business models or methods. Any person or team that have made a real positive impact in the company has been evaluated by leadership and determined the skills can be learned and replicated to be done faster and cheaper in China. A team in China can be assembled overnight to do any task: product management, project management, creative teams, media teams, culinary chefs, product marketing, content marketing, content writers, social media teams, etc etc the list goes on and will continue to. This is a China ran company, the US team is just the team to experiment skills from highly experienced professionals, pay them very well to leave legitimate companies / competitors, learn from them and let them go once they've trained someone overseas to do their job. They keep the more entry-level employees to handle the day-to-day US operations for less desirable pay and empty promises. Many of the long-time employees / managers have been there since the start of the company as their first jobs and now are nervous to start fresh elsewhere. Work/life balance does not exist here. The company expects everyone to be available around the clock, and have requested employees to work weekends / entertaining overseas colleagues on their own time without pay. The China team is also highly mistreated, underpaid, and overworked. They tend to get scolded in meetings more due to cultural differences perhaps, but leadership takes a very confrontational and aggressive tone. Therefore, the turnover in China is also extremely high. The company is in a mega growth phase, but it is complete chaos due to the constant change in staff. The CEO is mostly in China, and the US team is left in the care of the HR team (in which credentials are in question). This is a profit-driven company. Employee satisfaction and positive work culture is something they attempt on occasion but not consistently or genuinely - something to document and lure in new employees.

poor management and the managers don't really have a direction but to take the CEO's orders
