I worked with a lot of good people that should be in law enforcement and care about there job.

You will be worked to death. More people quit than they can hire. If you are in uniform patrol you will be doing the work of about 2-3 people. You will have to type your reports at home. The sheriff’s office does not pay overtime, they give you comp time. You will have so much comp time you will never actually use your earned PTO, which you do not get paid for when you leave. They are so short handed you will not be able to take days off anyway. You also have to do your required training on your days off, which you don’t get paid for. You also don’t get paid to go to court, and you will spend a lot of time there. Worst health insurance I’ve ever heard of.
