Pros
Some good people to work with At times, forward thinking with technology (just not always execution) Potential for lots of travel, if you like that Potential to attend outside training seminars Decent mentoring for junior staff
Cons
Lot's of politics, and promotions often based more on who you know than on achievements. IT department is always 3-5 years behind the rest of the world. Top tier of upper management group are oddly out of touch with the company. HQ workforce out of touch with satellite offices, which creates a disconnect between the HQ half of the company and the other half of the staff located in satellite offices and doing most of the actual work. Poor benefits and pay is on the low side for the industry. Potential for lots of travel, whether you like it or not. No real vision for mentoring or advancement for mid-level staff.
