Pros
Some flexibility if you are able to take advantage of this and okay with not getting your job done
Cons
Issues with corporate and company as a whole. Worked as an admin staff. There is a high turnover in admin/leadership team due to high expectations and corrupt business in how the company is run. As admin, you are pushed to do as you’re told and not question how or why. If you have a moral compass, this is not a job for you. High turnover in leadership team causes a lot of confusion and lack of structure/ direction for company staff working as CNA, dietary aide, receptionist, etc. as there is continuous new management staff that do not tend to stay long term as the company/corporate does not provide proper training and education to new directors, nurses, admin staff. Robert Ford Jr is the President of Edgewood of the Assisted Living Facilities and does a horrible job leading and managing. He’s is very volatile and not a good leader. Money is the primary goal of this company, whether it be pushing unrealistic move in goals for marketing/ admin. Up charging resident for services, upping service levels, and not informing residents that they have a choice to choose other providers. Double dipping with Medicare funds and charging residents through services provided through CaringEdge (home health/hospice) and Edgewood Assisted Living facility staff providing same service snd charging as well. One specific incident, resident was receiving home health services but Caringedge was unable to provide services 2-3 times a week so Caringedge would come once a week to provide nursing service and Edgewood Assisted Living staff would pick up the other days but also charge the resident while adding it on to their monthly service bill. There has been issues with programs starting too soon because (exact words from Michelle Bohde) “That is one week of income we are missing out on.” Corporate gives beckon orders with no explanation or direction on how to execute plan and will bring disciplinary action when those goals/expectations are not met. Another specific incident of corruption, corporate had instructed a leadership team to move a basic care (Medicaid) resident into a normal assisted living apartment instead of leaving resident where they were so they could charge his room for a a private pay memory care resident, yet still claim this resident was staying in the licensed Medicaid/basic care room. Instructions given at that time from Executive Director were to leave no paper trail yet corporate stated that Edgewood was just going to “eat” the cost of this resident staying in a normal apartment. There is a lot of corruption and dishonesty in this company. Primary goal is money with complete disregard to the residents/patients/families served and the employees that are lower on the totem poll.
