- culture of overwork, borderline toxic at times, particularly for early career staff - extremely low pay (even for the nonprofit sector). huge disparity between the quality and volume of work expected and the pay received - while the overall work culture is mostly positive, the company can be insular and it can feel taboo to openly mention issues in the workplace, namely regarding the low pay and chronic understaffing. It's like an open secret - everyone knows it's an issue, and no one wants to address it. - Not many reasons to stay with the company long term due to aforementioned issues, resulting in high turnover
