Pros

Great great benefits, willing to take chances with people outside of health insurance industry. It's a nationwide company with many opportunities if you're willing to relocate. Largest competitor is United Healthcare Group. Many middle and upper management have come from one of the other competitors in the field. The culture is somewhat conservative but generally keeps politics out of the workplace. Upper management is quite approachable and if you have a good idea to improve the bottom line they will listen. This company takes compliance very seriously, so be sure to ask questions if you're ever in doubt. For a large company, they do quite well at initiating change quite rapidly compared to others. This is a great company if you want to enter the sales and marketing side of health insurance.

Cons

Unfortunately upper management seems to change often and with each change there is the potential for a company re-org. Everyone tends to fear that their department may be axed at any time. They used to pay quite well, but as of late they appear to be slashing starting pay rates for many departments. Their biggest Achilles' heel is IT which has to manage so many different types of databases from all their years of acquisitions of other companies that data is hard to manage properly. Unfortunately, much of their IT seems to be outsourced.

Pros

Good Benefits and insurance Groceries benefit School reimbursement Gym benefits Hospital indemnity Insurance Remote work convenience

Cons

Pay rate never really goes up. Prefer to promote inexperience outsiders than from within. Low pay At the whim of Manager Favoritism Political Pretentious Metrics based of friendship with Management Hard to move up of you don’t suck up to a Manager or be political or be part of their click and group. QIP is also at the whim of the manager. Faulty metrics where you are blamed for FCR failures even when you fixed the issue on your first call and but because the member called in multiple times to other associates who didn’t help. Or do their job, they blame you for first call resolution when you never talked to the member till you resolved it. This is really messed up and it affects your QIP.
