Pros

You learn how a struggling small business works

Cons

She is very narcissistic. There is no pay. She gives you tasks that were not in the job description. Her entire business model is a lie. She hides information from the interns. If you work hard there is no reward. She expects you to do back flips for her. Stay away if you are looking for a solid internship. You are just a warm body to her. She tries to bring on recent graduates as interns just so she can get free work. Do not expect a full time offer after. Living hell.

Pros

This internship was incredibly informative. Elizabeth is extremely passionate about her craft and it is truly inspiring. I not only learned about techniques and skills, but also about confidence and how to advocate for yourself in the art world. Throughout this internship, the gallery hosted a plethora of events that provided both entertainment and networking opportunities that were open to all interns. That inviting nature was so refreshing to witness in an art world that has increasingly become cliquey and exclusive over the years. I would definitely recommend this internship for anyone trying to break into the art industry.

Cons

Liz is very passionate so if you can’t quite match that energy it may not be the best experience for you. Not all internships are built to eventually integrate you into the business in a paid position, this internship is purely educational, so if you’re looking for employment after, look elsewhere. However, if you give it your all, you may walk out with a letter of recommendation and a connection or two. I didn’t agree with everything I heard politically, but that’s what happens when you’re in a diverse workspace.
