Pros

- Fairly high hourly rate for canvassers, $20/hour. That was when I worked there, no idea if that is still consistent now. -Hours were very doable, 3:30 - 8:30 for a canvassing position. A little more for my level, but I was leading the team and dealing with administrative work.

Cons

-Inconsistent pay, some of our team went a whole month without being paid by the company unfortunately. This is because there was always very little capital to begin with which they did a poor job of explaining. This led to many difficult situations wherein you had to attempt convincing canvassers to work on the hope that they may be paid in full, and led to most people leaving the company. -The CEO stepped on my toes several times while I was leading the canvassing team by abruptly terminating our struggling team members over email. -Most of my contact with the CEO completely stopped once we weren't being paid, to the point where my canvassers have had to file a civil suit to get their earned money back. -Company is more or less blacklisted by every other company in the NYC market for their business practices. -Promises pretty high potential pay, but it becomes abundantly clear that it is not doable under their current training and development programs, nor could they afford it if someone was hitting their metrics. -Not transparent with your goals, metrics, appointments, etc. I was told multiple times to actively prevent our sales team from looking at where their contacts and conversations led. -Not actually interested in promoting anyone to anything, want to keep you as a canvasser indefinitely with no real plan for promotion. I was told explicitly to avoid talking to them about their career paths. -At several points, senior management tried to change the base pay and commission structure of employees without having a conversation with them. -Senior management will actively nickel-and-dime canvassers for their hours - anything longer than a 3 or 4 minute gap between doors knocked counts as a break and you have 30 minutes paid break per day, anything beyond that counts as unpaid break and is taken off your total hours. This was brutal, especially in the winter months wherein you needed to take some time to warm your hands and self.

Pros

Working with customers to get the best makes work fun for me. That’s encouraged at Embark, not brushed off. Each of my customers deserves their perfect fit. Love having my pick of best options to do that. Gives me confidence seeing how hard our team works to set me up to succeed. I’d go the extra mile anyways. Awesome knowing I owe them that, too. Real proud of the folks I saw start as lead generators who earned the responsibility of managing a team.

Cons

Solar's a ton of fun. Doing it right takes longer. But that's the way it should be. Hard work and attention to detail.

Pros

I've been working at Embark for about 2 months, and I absolutely love the work environment. All of my coworkers as well as senior management are supportive, kind, and very fun people while maintaining total professionalism and appropriate standards for work. There are ample opportunities for growth, and I appreciate their commitment to hiring from within and giving entry level canvassers a chance for promotion very quickly. The pay is excellent, even the starting rates. It exceeds any other canvassing job I've found. This is a solid team with a commitment to bringing solar to our communities, to help homeowners save money and care for our planet.

Cons

We work in all types of weather, so it's often cold. But it's definitely worth it and we are paid well for canvassing.
