Pros

I've worked at other small businesses that say they foster a family environment, but at Ember One, they actually mean it. Working in such a close knit group can be challenging when there is a squeaky wheel, but the general vibe here is one without a squeaky wheel. Medical benefits are paid for 100%; this was a big surprise compared to other employers of equal size. Profit sharing and team building outings further the feeling of being more than just a number. Everyone truly seems to be out to help each other and it shows every day.

Cons

With such a streamlined team, time management is key, but the days do fly by quickly. The only other con I can think of for my specific position would be lack of opportunities to move within the company, but I'm happy where I sit.

Pros

The company vision, ethics and goals closely match my own. I am inspired to work here and the leadership actually cares about me. I have worked for other IT firms, and this is the only one that treats me like an individual, showing me respect and caring about my career advancement. I feel as though I have a future here and am not simply another "minion" to be used as a "resource." There are company team builders, a bonus program, medical benefits and career advancement through training available.

Cons

I struggle to find any cons. The only thing I might mention is that the company is still small and as such has a more intimate atmosphere where ones actions may impact everyone around them on a much greater scale, necessitating that everyone work to grow their interpersonal relationship skills and strive harder to achieve larger outcomes. Also, it's an IT firm, so you need to be on an on-call rotation, but that comes with the territory and the on-call isn't really that bad.
