      Pros

      This place makes sure their employees are treated well. Lots of smart people working here. Benefits: - 6% full 401K match that is 100% vested from day 1. - Yearly bonus which can be above 100% of your bonus percentage depending on how the company did that year. - Additional bonus contributions to your 401K. - Yearly salary and bonus increases. - Fairly competitive pay. There are still many non-FAANG companies that will pay more, but the retirement benefits are hard to beat. - Discounted rates on health insurance by getting a yearly physical exam. - HSA contributions if you have a HDHP. - Unlimited PTO (some may see this as a con).

      Cons

      Although they are moving towards modernizing their code base/architecture with AWS, I feel they are still figuring out what works and what doesn’t so there are some growing pains to deal with. They have an office in India so you’ll have to work around time zone differences. There is a lot of poorly written code because coding standards are all over the place.

      Pros

      Empower fully supports work life balance. They also support and encourage community service. I like the fact that they match not only by monetary contributions, they also match actual volunteer hours with money. Management at all levels is committed and invested in you professionally and personally.

      Cons

      None that I have found.

      Pros

      It is a consistent paycheck in an industry that isn't going anywhere. The benefits are average to slightly below average. If you are lucky, your immediate manager will be a real person and not just a faceless suit.

      Cons

      A caution to the culture : Empower is more interested in APPEARING to be a good place to work instead of actually being a good place to work. The employees were instructed by HR to leave a Glassdoor review IF we enjoy working at Empower. They made no mention of everyone leaving honest feedback regardless of their feelings about the company. That is incredibly telling about the culture and priorities of the company.
