Having gone through a rapid period of expansion and acquisitions which brought challenges to us as a small business, we have recognised that we needed to make changes and improvements. We have made a number of changes over the last year, to ensure that we can try to provide the right level of support and benefits to our team:
* We now offer a pension scheme to all staff and introduced health insurance in 2015, along with providing childcare vouchers where applicable
* In line with most leading companies in the UK, we offer a full sick pay policy to support all employees
* Training is formally encouraged and financially supported. Since 2015, we have supported a number of training programmes, including ACCA training, MBAs, Prince 2, Scrum, Cisco Nuggets and vendor engineering training, as well as running informal, mentoring programmes
* We did go through a highly acquisitive phase, which brings with it consolidation and changes to teams and structure, although we have never had 15 people leave our business at once. Since 2015 and the period of change now being behind us, staff retention has improved significantly and we are continuing to look at new ways to improve
* Regarding the office environment, we have been very aware that the office was not going to be perfect for both today and the future, given our growth. We began communicating our plans for refurbishment and the expansion of our office since last summer, so that we can provide a much improved working space and social areas. The work is now mid-way to completion, with the first phase to be complete by the beginning of May.
