Pros

PTO, you have some input on your hours scheduled, decent HR team, possibility of transferring departments, some supervisors and managers are great and will stand up and watch out for you.

Cons

No holiday pay, extremely understaffed, you can only go so far up the ladder, upper management is ruthless and care only about the bottom line, decisions are highly political, getting a raise is next to impossible. The mentality is: don't promote because then a raise in pay is required, don't increase pay because then a promotion is required. Middle management is hit or miss. Some are amazing, some will work you to death and turn on you when necessary.

Pros

The property is one of a kind. It is beautifully surrounded by the red rocks and high desert landscape. There are great kind people that work there. And they truly care about each other and the guests. But not at the higher levels. The shuttle is a great service but you also have to be on its time. They do provide a meal. And there are really great room discounts if you’re able to take the time off but staffing is always an issue.

Cons

But where it matters is not great. From ownership to upper management there is a complete disconnect on the identity of the resort. Which then makes lower level teams seem chaotic and confusing to guests. There is a self righteousness from some of the executive team. There is a complete lack of communication between departments. They won’t/can’t hire qualified staff because they have this idea that the pay is comparable to other places around. It is not. Retaliation for complaining is rampant and you definitely can’t have open conversations with leadership much less Human Resources. There is a reason there is always 30+ positions open. People do not stay here because they do not know how to treat their employees. They have to use temp services because they can’t keep regular staff. Especially in the kitchens. Clear timely direction is not a known concept.
