Pros
-Critical care anesthesia physicians are amazing and helpful -Have Epic -Opportunity to get involved in process improvement - Have office hours
Cons
-ICU APN manager does not appreciate dialogue and will retaliate against you (even at a later date on your performance review) for answering questions honestly in a group setting. Also has made very inappropriate comments to pregnant colleagues. -expectation that you need to float to all sites even though each one has a unique workflow. Had to float from Evanston to Highland Park and back to Evanston in the course of one shift -constantly have APNs working below their license doing the job of CNS. At one of the sites, APNs are expected to review orders placed by residents. -There are two critical care lead physicians. One has been supportive of APNs from the beginning. The other has not and it shows it what he is asking APNs to do.
