Dear Former Intern,
Thank you for your candid feedback. We strive to maintain a supportive, professional office environment, so we were sorry to hear about some of your experiences.
In the months since your internship, we have employed a new dedicated intern manager, who offers an induction session and debrief to every intern we hire, as well as weekly lunch check-ins, to ensure that they have a positive time whilst working with us. We are fully committed to offering interns valuable workplace experience that will help them in the jobs market, as well as mentoring that will help them better understand the publishing industry.
As you may be aware, we have also recently undergone a restructure, which includes implementing more stringent HR and management workflows to ensure the office environment remains as supportive and positive as possible. We would like to think that any staff member experiencing problems now would feel comfortable talking to our designated HR manager, and are certain an amicable agreement over any issues would be reached. Further, we aim for sterling standards across our company, and undertake systematic and regular re-assessments of our business practices, ensuring that they are in-line with standard professional and ethical publishing practices.
Our the team of enthusiastic staff is intentionally made up from new and talented graduates, and long-standing industry professionals, including an ex-bookseller, an ex-literary agent and an editor who has worked on Man Booker-longlisted titles. They are all committed to clear, friendly communication both inside and outside the business, and to reading and loving our wonderful titles.
