Pros

A friendly and professional place, full of friendly and professional people who do their jobs and then go home. Work-life balance is good, the company is established and stable, there’s no “crazy” workplace shenanigans or after-hours partying and drama. It’s a little bit boring compared to younger startups, but for many people that is a good thing. It’s a great place to work if you’re seeking stability and professionalism. Being a small company means decisions can be made quickly and internal processes are not as onerous as at larger orgs. Previously the benefits compensated nicely for the less-stellar parts of working for a small company.

Cons

Management has gotten miserly over employee benefits, and is hostile to remote or hybrid work. Many perks have been canceled in the name of cost reduction, to the detriment of moral and retention. It has other cons similar to any small company, such as limited potential for personal growth and advancement. While most internal processes are efficient, there’s a few that are extremely problematic and hobble operations unnecessarily.

Pros

Seriously great culture of camaraderie, "family feel," people care about each other and are helpful and smart (a few exceptions but overall). Product is supercool -- even if a product path didn't pan out in the past, products are interesting, relevant, useful in the world, brilliantly engineered and manufactured in the USA. Some leadership issues at the top but that is changing for the better.

Cons

New leadership really pinches pennies which doesn't fly with California employees; we're hoping the austerity is just for 2024.

Pros

On the team level, excellent people to work with.

Cons

Unethical leadership. Poor VP level decision making across the board.
