Fair balance. - Telecommute options makes for a balanced work life. - Regional staff around the world creates a great environment for ongoing cultural diversity training; on the job and real world. - EO also offers a yearly professional development stipend for employees to use to further their career interests. - Fairly decent employee benefits package. Not much to complain about here. - Employees of EO often get lucrative offers from other associations and NGO's.
Cons
- There is a blaring wage gap between the Senior Management and Associate-level/Junior-level employees. EO Employees are probably some of the lowest paid in the DC association world. A company that prides itself on cultivating top talent to create a world-class member experience. However, EO loses a lot of top talent because they triangulate wages of several associations in comparison, which determines what EO is willing to pay out. It's almost better if you leave on good terms. Flourish else where with the experiences and skills EO taught. Then, reapply later for a newly developed role with EO down the line. Promotions are not as rewarding on the pay scale here. The COO is a master negotiator. He's a true operations person with the moxie of an entrepreneur for an organization comprised of the world's most influential group of entrepreneurs. All that to say, you have no leverage here unless it's probably a SVP or VP role at the center of the discussion. Just respect it or leave. - VP's aren't all that inspiring. Seems like as long as they continue to make their SVP look great, then they pretty much sit back and oversee the member-to-staff relationships and often the face of that relationship management. - Some members (definitely not all) spend hundreds of thousands on the most ridiculous things with no consequence. Then complain about there being to many staff at regional and global events. - Members can make or break your career here in an instant. - Overworking is a badge of honor here. Remember, you don't get paid enough to do that.
