Pros
- Does well at rewarding those who perform well & is not afraid to take action for those who do not (see disgruntled reviews) - Start-up atmosphere & growth provide for a lot of opportunity & potential for high impact contributions - Certain departments have very strong culture & retention - In general, Enviva has driven, talented, and personable people to work with - Enviva's business model success is linked to global warming mitigation (displace coal, grow more trees, fight climate change) despite misinformation from certain critics. Creates a strong mission driven atmosphere that employees stand behind. - Executive leadership make an effort to collect employee feedback and scope changes to improve culture and engagement.
Cons
- Some positions are generally demanding requiring personal sacrifices and can create work/life balance issues at times. - Executive leadership sometimes struggle to empower the organization with decision making authority which leads to inefficiency, demotivation, and poorer decisions. Leadership doesn't have time to focus on the most critical strategic items as they're stretched too thin due to overinvolvement. - In certain areas of the business, incentives and culture that exists promote individualism at the expense of collaboration. Individuals compete for exposure and/or career development opportunity at the expense of the organizational growth. - Operations and leadership are still learning how to utilize engineering/technical resources effectively.
