Pros
Episoft is a small company with a passionate and driven team. A major benefit of working in a small company is that your opinions are valued and your ideas are heard. It is located in on Sydney's Northern Beaches next to public transport and a major shopping mall. It is exciting to be working for a company that is the forefront of digital health and is poised for global expansion. Another pro is knowing that you are working for a company with values that wants to improve outcomes for patients by designing software that enables clinicians to access real time real world evidence to assist clinicians in making the best treatment decisions based on current evidence.
Cons
As part of a small team you need to be willing to wear a few different 'hats' and your job description may get a bit fuzzy round the edges. If you are not willing to try new things and expand your skills then this may not be the company for you.
Pros
I have been working at EpiSoft for nearly 2 years and it has been a tremendously positive experience. Having previously worked for companies which were high-performing but had a less than desirable corporate culture, I was pleased to join EpiSoft which has consistently advocated for and implemented an ethical but effective business culture from the top-level management down. This shows up time and time again in EpiSoft's affable and long-running customer relationships which include large, reputable and highly-discerning blue-chip Australian healthcare providers. This strong credibility has been a major and noticeable driver of new business in my time working at EpiSoft. EpiSoft has a smaller employee count compared to other companies of similar revenue / size which necessitates that each employee is self-motivated (as opposed to requiring constant directives from management) and comfortable with wearing 'many hats'. An employee attitude of 'work smarter', not necessarily always 'work harder' is encouraged and rewarded with a very flexible work - life balance which includes work-from-home privileges, if outcomes are met. As a part-time student still finishing his first tertiary qualification I can personally attest that EpiSoft provides great opportunities for personal and professional growth. I was hired for a fairly narrow scope of role, and nearly 2 years later my role has expanded to several business functions which I have not only greatly enjoyed but has vastly improved the value of my resume. The impact of EpiSoft's products, systems and processes on the end-delivery of healthcare to patients is very visible to all employees. This transparency not only means that employees can see a tangible payoff of their contribution during successful implementations, but also critically provides an opportunity for retrospective self-learning and improvement when implementations are less successful than expected.
Cons
As EpiSoft's team is on the smaller side it is necessary that all employees embrace work that is not always in their job description. This means that individuals who rely on others to give them direction would be less suited to working at EpiSoft. As EpiSoft works very closely with its customers during implementation and ongoing, it is its natural course of its business that EpiSoft employees need to collaborate and engage with the employees of its customers from all different levels; top-level management right through to end-user clinicians, administrators and nurses who all have different personalities and appetite for change. It is therefore critically necessary that EpiSoft employees are able to navigate and progress-through challenging and sometimes frustrating interactions in order to successfully implement, motivated by the goal of a better patient outcome.
