Pros
Some quick background: I've worked at EquityTeam in various different capacities for over 14 years, initially starting part-time, then full-time since 2016 Pros: - Fast-paced, challenging, fun environment - It is a great position and company for the right kind of person (right personality type, right skill set, ability to work unsupervised, self-starter) - Generous bonus program and ability to earn commissions (if licensed) -The job is not the same every day, which is great if you love tackling different challenges (I'm a type A personality, so this fits my personality type very well) - This job gives you the ability to really make a difference in someone's life. I usually work with owners/investors and help them be successful, but we also help tenants find great places to live - If you truly care about what you do, this isn't really what I would call work - I know that may sound trite, but the key to success in this industry is caring about your owners and their success, the houses you manage and our tenants - If you love real estate and real estate investing, helping owners, and a challenging work environment, this is a great place to work. - Unlimited PTO, better than industry standard pay scale, flexible work environment - We work together as a large, work-family. People get to know each other personally (both professionally through working with owners as I've made good friends with several of our clients, and internally with our co-workers) - Ability to change (move) positions if you wish (this can also be a con if it is discovered that a different position needs more attention or needs to be filled) - Constantly striving to find "best in class" solutions for our services, our owners, and our tenants, including the latest technology and trends (this is a constantly changing business and if you aren't constantly striving to find that best solution, you will quickly be left behind as the whole industry advances)
Cons
Cons: - You have to be a self-starter and have the ability to work unsupervised - Because of the industry we are in, it is not a typical 9-5 job - there are times when you are dealing with issues after hours (usually these are minor and there are other team members here to support you, though) - I mentioned personality type as a pro, because this type of work environment fits my personality type well, but this is an industry where you don't do the same things every day. This can be challenging for some people (if you are not comfortable with change, this can be difficult to deal with). So it is both a pro and a con, depending on what type of work you are seeking - We are still a young and growing company and are working to "find our footing". This can sometimes mean changes in direction for the company and employees. This also can mean your position may change if you find that a different position within our company is a better fit for your personality. - Changing technology/software can be stressful, but that is really the norm in this industry.
