You're sold as an expert for everything, even when you have not worked with that product. Products are developed by a group that nobody has access to. The "experts" dealing with the customers and integrating to those products have only the documentation to refer to and develop its expertise. Not even the official support of the product is available for the "experts", except if the customer pay for it. Otherwise the "expert" should make some magic to solve the customer problems. High internal competitions and strong political behaviour are the way to get a raise in your salary.
