Pros
Essilor is strategically positioned very well in the optical industry. It's a key player and has a good mission that employees are encouraged to participate in. My position had a lot of exciting work that allowed me to learn a lot, which made the work fun and fulfilling. As an employee at Essilor, you have the ability to learn a lot about the optical industry and manufacturing process. Other pros: 1. Lots of social events for team building, e.g. happy hours 2. The people here are smart and hardworking and they care about the success of the business. 3. Good benefits (unlimited vacation, well-paid) + access to discount glasses
Cons
There is limited focus on long term initiatives. Management focuses on reaction rather than proactive planning for the future. Biggest cons: 1. Management is made up of yes-men. i.e. Decisions are made at the top and managers are told what to execute. 2. There is no prioritization of work. Everything must be done even during layoffs, which happen every few months. 3. If Essilor is a form of meritocracy, then the measure of merit is how much you suck up to management.
