Variety of products/vendors we managed represented the cutting-edge of the technology, and provided countless opportunities to extend one's understanding of the advantages of different technologies and experimenting with emerging ones. The position provided a unique overview of a wide-rage of product line-up of the leading vendors, which knowledge was imperative to maintain.
Cons
Office politics. One's research reports, assessments, proposals could quite often ends up in back-burner doe to higher, - so called - "political decisions" are outweighing even technical necessities with no room for debate or reasoning.
