Pros

Stable company with some exposure to global projects. Small group with ability to work on numerous projects and interface with all aspects.

Cons

Office politics. Good management is not valued, nor does top management or parent provide any leadership. Japanese culture can be difficult to adjust to in the U.S., mostly the very centralized approval process for even mundane items.

Pros

It’s an easy workplace. People leave at 5pm. As a Japanese company they never lay people off. There are some very capable and supportive people in the office. Location in San Diego is very nice.

Cons

The office politics are terrible. Lots of people who won’t interact with others, grudges, passive aggressive behaviors etc. Part of the reason behind this is weak management from the top-which lets lower level individuals control the office. The end product is distrust and low productivity- and high turnover. People blame the problems on the “Japanese style” of management but I felt it was just an excuse.
