Pros

EvenUp is a growing startup, and is ideal for those who thrive in fast-paced environments. Founded by three passionate guys dedicated to leveling the playing field for plaintiffs, the company values transparency with an open-door policy and direct lines of communication with leadership. Though sometimes it can feel scary, you're truly encouraged to voice ideas and concerns, knowing leadership will listen and take action. Despite occasional imperfections, like reviews suggesting women aren't supported, I wholeheartedly disagree. In my experience, whenever I've raised issues, the response has been met with a genuine willingness to learn and improve. They genuinely care about ensuring everyone feels supported and included. You will also have perks like remote work, a home office stipend, fully covered health insurance, and unlimited PTO, EvenUp prioritizes your well-being. Work-life balance seems to also be a topic of concern in reviews, this is a startup sometimes things happen and need to be prioritized to help the company grow. You have unlimited PTO, take some time off if you need it. Embrace the chaos, it can be fun! If you’re ever feeling overwhelmed, it’s on you to say something and from my personal experience they will take action.

Cons

Embracing change is essential in this environment, and while it can be challenging at times, you will grow from it. At EvenUp, like any innovative startup, change is constant as we refine our processes through trial and error. Personally, I've seen concerns addressed and new procedures implemented very quickly, easing previous worries I may have had. Understandably, if you're in sales, meeting quotas and daily tasks are part of the gig, but it's an opportunity to showcase your initiative and drive. Accountability is inherent in sales, and being adaptable is important here. With a mindset geared towards continuous improvement, these challenges can transform into opportunities for personal and professional development, making them less of a drawback and more of a chance to succeed. While not every day may be perfect, knowing you can bring up significant issues to the cofounders and trust they'll listen and work towards improvement adds to the positive culture this company is working so hard to build. Sometimes things feel chaotic and mistakes occur, but what follows and the lessons learned, along with the subsequent changes, hold greater significance. Our leaders, like all of us, are human, and imperfection is part of the journey.

Pros

I genuinely enjoyed many aspects of working at EvenUp. I had the opportunity to work alongside incredibly talented, supportive colleagues who were passionate about their work and committed to helping clients. The mission is meaningful, and there are many people throughout the company who truly care about making a difference. Pros: Talented, collaborative coworkers, supportive teammates and managers, benefits, flexible hours.

Cons

Unfortunately, my experience ended with an unexpected layoff that was not preformance-related, which made the outcome especially difficult to reconcile with the positive feedback I had received. While I recognize that companies sometimes have to make difficult business decisions, the experience highlighted how little job security employees may have, even when they are performing well and contributing to the company's success. It also appears that an increasing number of positions are being outsourced to overseas countries, which is leading to loyal North American based employees being pushed aside for cheaper help. The decision itself was disappointing and had a significant impact on morale. It was difficult to see dedicated employees leave despite their contributions. Additionally, the company lacks alignment in terms of their own knowledge base and scope of work, which makes it difficult for anyone to maintain a consistent work flow and end product. Cons: Limited job security, lack of transparency around workforce decisions, morale can be affected by unexpected organizational changes, some jobs are being outsourced to overseas countries, lacking work-life balance, easy to get burnt out.
