Lifeguard - Pool Lifeguard Everyone Active Employee Review

Pros

You get a lot of respect from customers. Its not a physically hard job, everybody is helpful and nice, you work with the age group of (15-20) so if you are between that age group, there is always the chance of you making a couple of new friends. The bosses and managers are really nice, professional and understanding. You also get plenty of annual leave days. I think being a lifeguard is the best first job you can get.

Cons

The rota can be really bad sometimes, but there more leisure centres that have worse rotas/working hours. The provided equipment is a bit poor, but its not too bad. Being a lifeguard can be boring sometimes when you work with people that you dont normally talk to. Going to Pool training after your shift can also be a littlebit annoying. There is not a lot of Career opportunites for you..Personally I think its just kind of a first job, that you will leave one day..But oh my, what a first good job it is..

Pros

Large company with options to relocate around the country, if you wanted to. Very good with health and safety procedures, majority of processes ready to be implemented.

Cons

Very sales driven. Targets, KPIs and profits are prioritised over colleagues and members. Sales team expected to give up personal time on end of month. You're expected to check and respond to emails when you're off or on annual leave. The company is very clique, you don't really progress unless you know someone in a senior role. Salary is always advertised as 'competitive' however, the pay doesn't justify the work you're required to do, or the extra time you work without pay. It's frown upon to claim for time worked outside of your contracted hours. There is no such thing as work life balance: you're expected to work day all the time and not be paid for it.
