Pros

Phenomenal staff support culture, connections with the most amazing humans you’ll ever meet. No job will ever give you more fulfillment or feel more meaningful.

Cons

Definitely a hard job emotionally and physically. You’ll be tested in *every* way but you’ll grow SO much through it.

Pros

Incredible staff and management: supportive, empathetic, and proactive. This company is huge on giving and recieving feedback, so I always felt like I was growing.

Cons

This line of work can be exhausting and cause burnout long-term.

Pros

I came to Evoke after feeling mistreated and uncared for at a different wilderness therapy program. Right away I could tell that this company cares for their people. Since working here and meeting field instructors, I have realized that Evoke maintains a high reputation in the industry as far as how well they treat and support their staff. Not only do they offer a seriously good wage ($44k-$50k to be a field guide), but they invest in our professional development, pay for all certifications (CPR, WFR etc), have delicious and healthy food, believe in a holistic approach blending primitive skills, group therapy, and mind body spirit techniques which offers a well-rounded experience while at work. I have a hard time containing how much I value my employers and feel valued by them! I have been with the company since 2017 and have had the opportunity to consistently grow and develop. Something else to note is the company's continual effort in regards to diversity, equity and inclusion within both the staff team and the clientele.

Cons

All I can think of is that it can be uncomfortable at times....you're working outdoors. But all you need is the right gear (which is no sweat due to great prodeals), and a little time to get used to it and you're right as rain! There is some emotional discomfort as well. It can be tough to hear about the trauma our clients have been through, but the reward in knowing we are here to help them recover from that totally makes it worth it (plus there is a free therapy program in place for anyone that needs to offload some of those stories).
