Great at making PowerPoint slides but not at real results - People Manager Evolent Employee Review

Pros

Before the layoffs and the mass exodus of people who voluntarily left over the past year the main reason to work for Evolent was the people. They had some of the most dedicated, creative, brightest people in healthcare working for them but most are gone now. I guess now the main pros are the competitive pay, good benefits, unlimited PTO, and decent travel policy.

Cons

Evolent is better at producing PowerPoint slides showing how an application would look or work than building actual applications. They are also better at showing wildly exaggerated graphs than producing real results. You will be expected to use these slides to show your clients that everything is great so they don't see that Evolent has turned their market into a flaming dumpster fire. Evolent has been running a diversity campaign for several years and it is primarily for show. There are no black people on the Evolent leadership team. The women in senior leadership are in token roles like "Chief Accounting Officer" or "Chief Customer Officer". Most organizations now recognize that women in leadership often get labeled with negative attribute words while men are labeled with positive ones for the same behavior, bossy vs leader. Evolent still buys into the idea that attribute based feedback, primarily from the male senior leaders, should determine whether you are promoted or get your bonuses. It isn't shocking that people are leaving to go to companies where the glass ceiling isn't made of tempered glass.

Pros

Excellent and often unmatched employee benefits, especially those for exempt employees. Unlimited PTO. Sabbatical every 5 years of service. 401K match. Affordable and comprehensive medical coverage. Excellent work-life balance.

Cons

Over my 12+ years, we went through re-orgs and RIFs every 1-2 years. Hard to keep up morale when everyone is always worried about job security.
