It is always unfortunate when an employee leaves with a negative impression of the company in their mind. Of course, no employer ever wants this - but realistically this does happen. We can't know exactly who this anonymous reviewer is but addressing it broadly - we do know that there were a small handful of employees who had been conducting themselves in an unprofessional manner for a very long time. When this new leadership/administration took the helm in early 2020 (just prior to the pandemic) and began to formalize some operations in a way that the organization hadn't experienced before - it began to surface these problematic employees. Our leadership team is 100% dedicated to our organization's mission to get more artists on the autism spectrum employed in the entertainment industry. We are expanding our team, and offering more classes, that are more accessible to more people and available in more places. And yes - historically - our Instructors were underpaid. This was a legacy issue that was inherited and is unfortunately not unique to our institution and is pervasive across the education and non-profit sectors. Over the last 2 years we have made a point to raise our Instructor staff salaries an average of 10% each year. We are also very focused on internal professional development - and have recently promoted at least 4 employees (on our relatively small team of 30ish) into larger positions. We understand it's hard to read reviews on a website and know what to believe - so we would invite anyone thinking of applying for a position at Exceptional Minds to feel free to reach out directly to us. We would welcome you to take a tour of our new space (we moved in January 2022!) to come see our warm and inviting culture for yourself.
