Pros

- Coworkers were almost always fantastic. I met some of my very best friends working here. - Pay raises were exponential at yearly reviews, even though you have to negotiate for them. - Flexible working hours. - Casual work environment, including dress. - Working at a small company means you have more mobility.

Cons

I wish I could say that I'm reviewing out of spite, but I'm just tired. I spent quite a bit of time working here, and I would like to leave a genuine review to hopefully save someone from making a mistake. - Management micromanages your every move and does not trust its employees. - Owners have low emotional intelligence, and oftentimes lack basic empathy. - Management will make fun of and gossip about former employees in front of current employees. - I witnessed one of the owners verbally berate a team member in public. - Owners talk about caring for students and being passionate about education, but are actually only interested in getting rich. - Toxic bro-culture where how they treat you can change on a whim, and is based off how much they like you as a person, not out of any sense of professionalism or how hard you work. - You're only working hard when you are at management's beck and call and working over 40 hours a week (All that is to say work-life balance is not respected). - You will not be paid on time, even with direct deposit. - Low starting salary and almost no benefits. - There is no proper onboarding process. It is sink or swim. - Incredibly high turnover rate. - Expectations are never properly communicated, and forgetful management will blame employees for their own mistakes.

Pros

The small team I worked with helped get me through the abusive atmosphere. Lots of great lunch options nearby. The app idea was genuinely a good product idea.

Cons

Top management needs to genuinely seek help on how to run a business and employees. Frequently we would hire contractors or use vendors and not pay them, this made it embarrassing to continue asking for their services. This only scratches the surface of shady behavior that went on. There was constant micromanaging and distrust of how hard we were working. I asked specifically in interview about work/life balance and was not given what I was promised. Gaslighting was also a constant thing. Thankfully the circle of trust some of us had, made us feel like we weren't alone in the toxicity. My responsibilities changed over time with no discussion of a change in title or more pay. I was frequently not paid on time, the most was a week late.
