Pros

Owner is flexible with time off, most employees are friendly, usually get a bottle of nice champaign around the holidays.

Cons

Office Culture: often petty and cliquish; owner constantly defers to sales/editorial and allows near daily, highly aggressive tantrums from one sales person in particular; most employees need constant CYA to avoid the ire of previously mentioned sales person, but will often be thrown under the bus by management; deadlines constantly pushed with little or no regard for impact on production or schedules Perks: None to speak of besides above mentioned "pros." There is no real holiday bonus, no 401k matching, insurance is paltry, and despite "flexibility" time off is often dependent on how badly deadlines of been pushed to accommodate sales. All but one position is salaried, so there's no overtime; pay is low in general for all but a few employees and certain sales people are allowed 100% commission on sales. Training: Non-existent. If you're coming into a position in this company, you're basically expected to---extremely quickly---learn as you work. Growth: There's no room for actual growth in this company. You WILL be expected to take on more and more responsibility, often from positions unrelated to yours, but you will receive no pay boosts or title upgrades. Work/Life Balance: Upper management pretty much comes and goes as they please. Everyone else is expected to do whatever is necessary to get work done, even if extra work is piled on because of last minute schedule changes. Basically the only way to get any kind of "balance" is to simply refuse to work beyond 40 hrs, but this is risky: you can and probably will be replaced.

Pros

The company is small, most of the employees are chill, plenty of learning opportunities, somewhat flexible work hours, modest benefits

Cons

Most employees are there because they are desperate, not because it is a good place to work. There is an excessive workload from understaffing, the pay is low, and the work environment is messy and antiquated (digitally and physically). Management is shortsighted, stingy, inflexible, old fashioned, difficult to communicate with, and frequently diverts accountability to subordinates. Negative reinforcement is the preferred management style. Office gossip is excessive largely due to a single, difficult employee who is almost impossible to speak to directly without verbal confrontation. There is little room for advancement, especially in the case of the print designer position. Any advancement consists of increased responsibility with minimum or nonexistent compensation. Superiors are not forthcoming with annual raises or bonuses and employees must take the initiative to negotiate them individually.
