From the outset, it was clear that the company does not foster a genuinely collaborative work environment. Instead, the culture is dominated by cliques. This significantly limits cross-team and intra-department collaboration, as information and support tend to stay within select groups rather than being shared openly. There is also a pervasive culture of backstabbing, where individuals are often rewarded for undermining others rather than working together to solve problems. This creates an atmosphere of distrust and discourages open communication. These issues are especially evident at the management level. Some managers routinely take credit for the work of their peers, hoard responsibilities and processes, and position themselves as gatekeepers rather than enablers. In several cases, they make little effort to resolve issues and prefer to focus on assigning blame when things go wrong. Unfortunately, corporate leadership appears to tolerate—and in some cases reward—this behaviour, which reinforces these negative dynamics and makes meaningful change unlikely.
