Pros

The production team is top notch and create quality product to support the sales you make.

Cons

Sexism is alive and real in this company. I have never been treated so disrespectfully in my entire career. Even though I excelled and was top salesperson, they tried to control and diminish me every chance they got. Until a year ago, I didn't even see female managers invited to Manager's Meetings. When I asked about it, I was told "they didn't have anything to contribute." The commission was cut three times -- until it now is only 2% until halfway to goal. Specifics of the compensation plan were misrepresented in my interviews. Who would agree to 2% commission on such small sales units? Their discriminatory behavior, coupled with their financial instability, should make you pause before joining this organization.

Thank you for your comments and giving credit to our Production team--we're very proud of their work and our other teams as well. I would like to address your comments as some of your statements appear to lack understanding or omit facts. Our expectations for account managers are pretty clear—goals are established prior to the year and then quarterly/annual reviews measure sales performance, CRM documentation, and other factors like teamwork and initiative--our goal is to be as objective as possible. For the record, women managers are/have been included in weekly, strategic and other pertinent meetings since I started in 2003--this is well-documented and their contributions are valued. Regarding our commission structure, you neglect to mention that we increased the 50%+ tier rate substantially, added sales contests, spiffs and over goal bonuses all of which benefited you. We also created work-from-home options and added travel dollars to further assist you and others. Neither HR or myself was aware of any discriminatory behavior you allude to, and if you felt that way, we had well-defined avenues to address any grievances. The fact is that for the past 30+ years, we've been a woman-owned business with a majority of female managers and employees--discriminatory behavior would not be, and is not tolerated in our workplace. Rather, in reviews and memos, we regularly acknowledged, complimented and documented your wins, milestones and successful trips/meetings. I’m disappointed things didn’t work out for you here and you’re certainly entitled to your opinions, but in all fairness, the facts matter. Should any employee or candidate have questions or concerns about our company, we have an open door policy and happy to meet anytime.

Pros

Family Features allows for a good work/life balance with a flexible schedule and PTO package. There is a casual environment along with activities throughout the year to help foster teamwork and promote volunteerism/charity. Management and team members are approachable, willing to help and are open to new ideas to grow the business and continue to develop in a digital age. Management seems committed to both individual and team success.

Cons

Opportunities for advancement are limited due to the small size of the company with no clear path for moving up. There also seems to be a divide, literally and figuratively, between the production and sales teams. Turnover rate is also pretty high and some of the technology is out of date, though they are working on fixing the latter.

We appreciate your feedback—the examples you share speak to our collaborative work environment and that’s critical to our success. Your comments about retention are certainly top of mind with our management team. All companies experience some level of turnover and it’s important for us to understand the reasons behind it. If an employee leaves because they feel their career opportunities are limited, we’ll try to address it and encourage feedback on specific concerns, training and career aspirations. It starts with a discussion and oftentimes, ends with an actionable plan. With respect to new products, we’re constantly evaluating what clients and customers need—and our goal is to add products/services that can reliably deliver outcomes. Coincidentally, we’re adding a couple new products shortly, and testing a few others for release mid-2016. More as that develops. Please feel free to stop by and we can discuss in greater detail. Thanks again for your comments!
