Pros

Let me start with that I loved my Fandom job when I was working. It was a very easy job to perform, especially with it being remote. I gave Fandom my blood and sweat with my work. I even defended them against people who would call out the company and say negative things about them. However, when you are considered no longer useful for the company, you are gone. That's it. This company has an issue with layoffs. You can bet an arm and a leg, that there will be at least one layoff per year. There is a lot of "yes men" employees at Fandom, and because of this, no real progress is ever made with employee relationships with upper management. The truth of the matter is, each manager is in it for themselves. They will not hesitate to drop their own team if it means keeping their job. They will sell you out faster than a vendor selling hotdogs. Communication is terrible, you express a concern with how something is being done, and that is held against you until the end. They act like they want you to be open and honest, but this is a lie. If you speak against a practice they are doing or suggest something in the opposite direction, it is documented and will be the first thing they look at when they are trying to figure out who to layoff. You are quite literally "lied to your face" if you express feedback. They want you to feel good about open communication and pretend thankful they are for you bringing it up, but it bites you in the rear. If you want to have a long term career with Fandom, you have to agree with everything they do, never question it. You also have to kiss up to people above you to form "corporate cliques" if you want to be favored over your co-workers. By "corporate cliques" I mean literally that certain employees get together and protect their positions of each other. If you are not apart of this clique, you are an outsider and expendable. This is more common among management rather than actual "employees" who do the work. Managers will save their friends from losing their positions versus the people who keep to themselves and actually do the work. I put my trust in Fandom but they do not want to return that feeling. I came close to being hired for another position when I was laid off, but conveniently one of my manager's family members got hired for the open position instead. This circles back to what I'm saying, if you are good enough friends with your supervisors, they will scratch your back. If you aren't, well they will be helping you load your luggage in your car. Employees and volunteers (editors) are retaliated against for open-communication so beware. Being retaliated against does not stop at the employee level but also for the volunteers. You have to align with their company vision or else you will be blocked from using the site. This is not an exaggeration, this regularly happens on the site. All in all, the internal politics are constantly changing at Fandom. Whatever gives them the most money. If that means dropping people who put years and years of service into the company, they will not hesitate. Each employee and manager is in it for themselves and there is little teamwork.

Cons

• Terrible communication • Management does not listen to feedback • You cannot disagree with decisions made by Fandom • Corrupt politics with how frontend staff treat editors and viewers • Existing employees choose who to defend and hire for positions rather than qualifications

Pros

I loved working with the team as a mixing engineer for music production. Everyone was so creative and fun to work with. I was also a sound designer for various projects within the company. Very flexible and cool people.

Cons

I honestly can't think of anything I didn't like about working with them.

Pros

Fandom is the most welcoming and accepting place I've ever worked. Every person I've seen join has been welcomed in and really brought into the Fandom community. As a community-driven website Fandom makes efforts to listen to the fans and proceed accordingly. I feel like I can have big ideas at Fandom that may actually be done.

Cons

Lacking a real sense of direction. Lots of great departments doing great work, but the throughline gets lost sometimes. Depending on your role you can be exposed more or less to the raw internet and upset users.
