Pros

The people are really pretty cool. There are lots of colorful personalities, and if you want to go out and have a beer, there are easily 20 people there worth having one with. They have the nicest HR staff I have personally ever met.

Cons

The pay is sub par by about 20 grand per annum and up to 40 if you compare it to Seattle. Any of the professional jobs in finance, IT, engineering, process management, etc are all dead end jobs with no chance of promotion. Managers are generally aware of this and resigned to the point of making colorful jokes about how you will find a better job and leave, which sort makes you want to look for one. If you've ever had a decent annual or quarterly bonus then the bonus here will actually make you laugh. The hourly people are treated as lesser, and generally jerked around with layoffs and odd hours. People go on expensive company paid trips even though the production workers suffer through plant shut downs where they miss out on pay two weeks before Christmas.

Pros

Company discounts on products is great.

Cons

Due to the nature of the industry, compensation tends to be lower than average for similar roles elsewhere. Working here is more of a lifestyle choice. Unless you're in Sales, Marketing, or R&D—where high-end trips and photo ops are part of the package—you're likely to face low wages, limited advancement, and mandatory overtime, particularly in customer service and production roles. There’s a growing sense of branding fatigue. The company repeatedly showcases the same image/person—aimed at a young, bearded, hipster demographic—while forgetting its core customer base: older anglers who can actually afford premium gear. Culturally, the company can feel very cliquey. Office staff often overlook production employees, and too many departments fall under the Marketing VP’s control. Leadership lacks diversity and still operates like an old boys’ club. It’s no surprise that female employees rarely stick around for long.
