Pros
Stupid money for what you do, pays great. Awesome benefits with pension. Flexible with your schedule. Great coworkers. Get all the overtime you want.
Cons
The management is trained so that EVERYTHING is the dock worker's fault. No matter how you get injured/written up, it's your fault. I got hurt from a beam falling on me that I had no control of and they told me I was not being careful. The schedules suck. It's either 4AM, 12PM, 2PM, 8PM, or midnight. Extremely dusty. You'll cough black soot and sweat gray. My tears from yawning are literally black. The supervisors take advantage of their authority. Big time.
