Pros

Above average pay, Newer Equipment

Cons

Being stuck as Shuttle Driver going to a HUB operation can be the pits. The new hires are not taught the proper way to load and unload trailers, it's all about the numbers. As long as they are moving so many bills per hour then their is no heat from management about your job performance. The people who have been doing this job for a long time have to continually rework trailers to make all the freight fit if no other viable options are made for moving the freight. We were told over and over again that the company was moving away from using Long Haul truck lines to move our freight. Well, seems to me they went the other direction instead. They don't move as much rail freight anymore but the Long Haul Line has almost doubled at some centers cutting jobs for Road Drivers. Another pain in the backside is some centers were given a cost of living raise while others were not. Some of the new hires are making almost as much as the guys who have been here for over 20 years. The new dock hands are paid all this money and then on Friday nights they don't show up for work which leaves it to the shuttle drivers to fill the void. The health care might be great on the corporate side but on the Freight side the costs continue to climb while the coverage decreases. Having a $1,200 deductible is not what I call good insurance.

Pros

Good pay ,benefits ,and people. Can move up/on to other positions. Education reimbursement too

Cons

Heavier boxes ,also awkward sizes that are large! Then step up into truck with those heavy n awkward boxes.12 hr days, not 10 as posted in job application box. Supposedly contracting out soon so be careful if choose this job.cant follow procedures for truck loading safety bc in reality it’s that’s not how it’s done on trucks bc everyday is a rush (they say it isn’t though)
