Pros

Great hiring managers who were approachable and supportive throughout my time with the company.

Cons

The company is experiencing rapid growth, which can create challenges in maintaining adequate staffing levels and supporting employees effectively. Workloads can become demanding, and long hours are often expected, particularly within HR. While the company promotes a family-oriented culture, that experience may vary by department. Employees are frequently asked to take on additional responsibilities as the organization grows, sometimes without corresponding adjustments in compensation. There can also be a perception that employee contributions are not always recognized to the extent they deserve, despite the dedication and effort many team members bring to their roles.

Pros

I've had the opportunity to help build and scale the recruiting function at several organizations throughout my career, and Felix Construction has been one of the most rewarding experiences. Over the past year, I've watched the company make significant investments in its people, systems, and long-term strategy. Leadership has intentionally brought in subject matter experts across the business and empowered them to improve their areas of responsibility. Rather than getting bogged down in bureaucracy, decisions are made quickly, good ideas are welcomed regardless of where they come from, and people are trusted to do what they were hired to do. As the person responsible for building our recruiting function, I've been given the resources, support, and autonomy needed to create meaningful change. There is very little ego, very little red tape, and a genuine willingness from leaders to listen, adapt, and continuously improve. The culture is what keeps me here. The employees care deeply about each other, our customers, and the work we do. People are approachable, collaborative, and willing to step in to help when needed. For a growing construction company, that's not something I take for granted. I'm proud of what we've accomplished and excited about where the company is headed.

Cons

Like any company experiencing rapid growth, processes and communication sometimes need time to catch up with the pace of the business. The good news is that leadership recognizes these challenges and is actively investing in solutions, technology, and talent to support the next stage of growth.

Pros

Well thought of by clients.

Cons

Substantially behind in processes and procedures. Low level of internal knowledge of construction management fundamentals. Does not have Project Controls, Procurement, Quality Control and the Safety Department is dramatically understaffed and poorly led.

Felix Construction Response

Thank you for the feedback. There is truth in much of what was said here. Felix has grown from a small company to more than 500 employees, and with that growth comes challenges. We are actively working to improve our processes, systems, and standard operating procedures because we know they have absolutley not kept pace with our growth. We have also intentionally chosen to develop and promote leaders (several of them young) from within our organization. Some of those leaders are still gaining experience, just as I once was. We believe leadership is developed by giving talented people opportunities, holding them accountable, supporting them, and helping them grow. No company grows from 20 people to more than 500 at the rate Felix has without occasionally outgrowing its systems. I take responsibility for not fully appreciating the complexity that comes with scaling at this pace. The people who thrive at Felix tend to be those who see those challenges as opportunities to contribute and help build what comes next, reflecting our WE vs. ME core value. We also recognize that every person deserves to find a company and culture where they can be successful, fulfilled, and happy. As Matt and I say all the time, Felix is not the right fit for everyone, and that's okay. We are a fast-paced, high-accountability organization that is continuously evolving, and that environment tends to energize some people more than others. While we don't claim to have everything figured out, we are proud of the culture we have built, the opportunities we create for our employees, and the relationships we have earned with our clients. We remain committed to getting better every day and appreciate feedback from those who have been part of that journey.
