Biggest cons: Unscheduled work! This is not a fixed-schedule job. You won't know exactly when to go to work or... when you'll be back home. Unless you take a vacation. If you're single and/or don't mind being out of town for a long time, ..(no need to take care of family)...then the job is ABSOLUTELY you. You'll enjoy it and will be eligible for many bonuses and raises right after a couple of months or a year. Second but minor cons: The experience is really worth it for someone who is willing to get started in the Oil & Gas Industry. However, if you want to advance in your career, it's very limited and won't take you any further.

I loved working for this company. They gave a new-to-the-industry, fresh-out-of-college kid a chance, and for that I’m forever grateful. I started out as a sample catcher and worked my way to a logger pretty quickly. I think that is a great way to learn the programs they use and how they want things done. It is amazing getting to use your degree and be a real geologist, not just a mudlogger. That being said, this is a tough job. If you aren’t able to handle being away for weeks at a time it is entirely on you, not them. It will be like that for any company/job you have in the oil and gas industry. However, they do an amazing job accommodating time off. If you need to leave a hitch early or need extra time off they are more than helpful. Speaking of helpful, they have 24/7 assistance and tech support which is a life saver.

None really that I can think of! I believe some of the negative reviews previously left are from people who weren’t prepared for the work or willing to adjust themselves to the oil and gas industry. This is a top notch company. It’s hard to adjust to the demands of the oil and gas world, but FGS does an amazing job keeping everyone rotated and working.
