Pros

A great company to work at. People from all over the world came here to make a difference - and to build great games. Despite growing fast, flaregames moves forward towards their goal significantly less chaotic than any of the other companies I worked at. The company has a clear, well thought through and well communicated strategy and celebrates its transparency. Colleagues are mostly outstanding in their field and you can learn something from most of them.

Cons

None that come to mind easily. An Air-condition would be a nice, especially in the hot Karlsruhe Summer Days.

Pros

Air conditioning. Great view of Karlsruhe. In-house prepared meals one time per week. Bar directly below company floors.

Cons

Chaotic project planning: See other reviewer. Chaotic personal situation: Three game designers after each other on one project, four if you count the non-existing game designer when the game development kicked off. Loud: One big open plan room reaching over two floors. High workload, stressful job: If you have not worked in the mobile gaming industry before this is probably not for you.

Pros

The very thorough hiring process, which enables everyone in the company to have a say in who gets hired (and who doesn't) lead to an environment of passionate colleagues which are fun to work with! (And yes, even if you're "only" the intern for a few months, your word bears the same weight.) Expect to work with friends, and not workerbees sucked dry bare to the bottom of their soul by the unforgiving thirst of "the games industry". On a sidenote: i'd bet the CEO still knows the names of each and everyone working in his company. Will you be challenged? Yes. Will you be burnt out? Only if you put too much fire to yourself. Most of the people i've worked with so far are really good in their field of expertise and nice to hang out with. I've encountered no one so far who wasn't open minded when it comes to critizism. Even the management openly admits mistakes (and yes, mistakes and bad decisions are made, that's part of the business) and is approachable to everyone in the company in case something annoys you so much that you feel the need to do so. You wanna know how much money is left on the companys bank account because you feel insecure when it comes to job security? Grab a drink and have a chat with Klaas, he'll tell you. Although there is a kind of necessary hierarchy implemented, i never got the feeling anyone just plays out the "I'm da boss!" card. Important day-to-day decisions are usualy reached within concensus of equals. Working times are quite flexible and you can adapt them to your specific needs as long as it's ok with your teammates. There are no strict rules other than attending whatever appointment your team deems necessary (Standups, Weeklys...) and doing your job as best as you can.

Cons

Unfortunately the current office is too crowded and has an open office layout. Depending on what kind of person you are and what job you do, this may or may not affect your actual work. For developers, this is a bad setup, if you are in marketing or other fields which require more direct communcation, this may be even favourable. To be fair - this is known, and actively being solved by moving into a larger office space, to at least address the overcrowded situation. Although everyone is open and approachable when it comes to feedback, sometimes i got the feeling that the management does not pick up the full potential of the employees when it comes to direct feedback on whether a decision should be made towards A or B.
