Brilliant business actually changing the world. You work with smart people on interesting problems. Nice offices and amenities. Clients really love us.
Cons
The culture is toxic. The leadership team is basically all men and the company is full of sexism, favoritism and politics. Who you play on the weekends with is more important. Another example of the myth of silicon valley meritocracy.

Ryan Petersen here, CEO of Flexport.
This person has made some pretty serious allegations. I'd urge readers to dig deeper to find out the truth.
With regards to a culture of sexism, it's just not true. Come meet our teams. You'll be inspired by women in leadership positions at every level of the organization, including on our executive committee and running some of our largest and best performing teams.
I wrote this about the important role diversity and inclusion play in our culture:

I also recently hosted Emily Chang, author of Brotopia for a candid conversation about diversity in the tech industry, including at Flexport.

We're a young company that hasn't formalized a lot of our systems and we don't believe in self-promotion. But behind the scenes our people organization has done tremendous work building an equal opportunity culture at Flexport.
Lots of really smart and nice people at the company. The culture has improved a lot recently. There's a good amount of room to develop and jump on things that you might not be exposed to in other companies.
Cons
The company moves a little too fast at times and maybe overlooks things that are working well and don't necessarily need to be changed for "efficiency" at the risk of doing things incorrectly. It can be hard to move up in some departments. work/life balance varies a lot by team.
- Phenomenal benefits (health insurance has great coverage for the price)
- Unlimited PTO. Great for people who are parents. If you choose to not take time off, that’s your problem. Stop blaming the company.
- Decent pay versus other freight forwarders and customs brokers
- A lot of opportunities to grow within the company
- Free lunches and snacks (at least when I was there)
Cons
- A CEO who has a lot of bravado and charisma (if a little ego at times) but decision making process that is incredibly capricious
- Constant layoffs even of people who are there for extended periods. People who have been there for 10+ years are no exception. The CEO praises people for staying at the company, but there is zero loyalty from his end.
- Some very questionable middle management and executives in terms of qualifications.
- Forced RTO 5 days a week was announced in 2025 with only 3 days notice
- Constant state of flux at the company in terms of financial stability
