Pros

Hardworking talented engineers, promising business partnerships

Cons

Not willing to put the offer letter terms in the employment contract. Unreasonable terms. Not sure if this fits in Reviews or Interviews, but my post-offer experience is important info for anyone considering a role with this company. Received an offer letter, agreed to terms with their LA recruiter who was great. However, employment contract had materially different terms, including no mention of the stock option compensation in the offer letter - and it supersedes all prior agreements, including my chat with the LA recruiter. On top of that, the employment contract makes it essentially impossible to use time off - 1 MONTH NOTICE is required to take 1 day off, and 3 MONTHS NOTICE to take longer than 1 week off. Also, you’re not allowed to post anything anywhere, not even your job duties on LinkedIn. HR withdrew my offer after I asked them to include the stock options we’d already agreed on, and asked how to take a day off for an appointment (dentist, DMV, cable guy, etc) that’s less than a month out. It wasn’t even a “this offer is final, take it or leave it”, it was “we don’t think you’re a good fit anymore”. Throughout the process I was polite, and my requests were reasonable. All I heard from them had been “we’d love to work with you”, “we think you’d do great here”, and my favorite, “welcome to the team!” until I asked for the above. Then it all changed. It didn’t have anything to do with my background check - which they ran - because it just came back clean. My career advice for anyone is to make sure your employment contract matches your offer letter, and make sure the terms are reasonable. Leaving out material compensation is not reasonable. Requiring a month advance notice for a day off is not reasonable. Escalating from a “we don’t normally modify the employment agreement” directly to withdrawing an offer is not reasonable. More free career advice: don’t resign from your current job before all the details at the new place are ironed out. Know what you’re worth and don’t sell yourself short!
