Pros
Perhaps if you were writing a book of autobiographical short stories about the tragically comedic pitfalls of the public sector and state university employment, FAU could be a gold mine for a New York Times #1 Best Seller like I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell by Tucker Max. But then again you would have to have a pretty sick sense of humor as well as thick skin to endure your role in these experiences. You really cannot make this stuff up otherwise.
Cons
As some others have stated, this place is bad for your health especially if you are in the earlier portion of your career or have any bit of aspiration -- FAU is a morale killer and motivation murderer (unless it's to quit and seek any other form of employment as I did -- my only regret is that I didn't do it sooner) Management is very mean and the environment is a very nasty place, and I don't care how tough you are, it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. I saw too many people that appear to have lost something along their way feeling stuck in their place here. At first I didn't understand why they were like that or why they stayed until I started accumulating a few years finding myself getting caught up in the same daily grind rat race. Favors for favors. Nepotism. Good ol' boy impropriety. Complete absence of accountability. The list goes on.
