Decent company but not the best - Software Engineer Forescout Technologies Employee Review

Pros

Good work-life balance. Currently Forescout has a hybrid work schedule with 2 days in office and 3 days out of office. Able to WFH on in-office days if needed. Co-workers are friendly and helpful, there is a collaborative environment and not much back-stabbing. Competitive compensation and benefits, although the overall compensation has decreased after being acquired by private equity.

Cons

Lots of churn, and significant changes in C-level executives and above. Company does not seem to have a clear focus and cannot seem to commit to any particular strategy. Also there has been a lot of turnover in engineering over the past 2 years, and there is considerable backlog without enough resources. There is a lot of technical debt with the product, and the tech stack is outdated for the core product - Java 8, Perl (!!). Engineers in Dallas are focused on minor feature additions and continued support of the product, and there are not a lot of exciting new projects to work on. No clear career development trajectory.

Pros

Lots of intelligent hardworking people who will drop what they have going on to help you. Excellent culture of coming together to get stuff done. Work life balance is good (you draw boundaries).

Cons

Benefits are ok, nothing stellar.

We’re pleased to hear that you’ve found Forescout to be a place that offers growth opportunities and an enjoyable work environment. Supporting employee development and creating meaningful career opportunities are important priorities for us. We also appreciate your candid feedback regarding work-life balance. While remote work offers flexibility, we recognise that it can sometimes blur the boundaries between work and personal time. We continue to encourage healthy working practices and support managers and teams in creating sustainable ways of working. Thank you again for your feedback and for your contributions to Forescout. K.A.
