Work Culture: the current CEO ousted the previous CEO under the guise that the the previous one had created a culture of job insecurity and did not allow to spend. Now situation is 5x worse under the new one. After becoming CEO, the current one suddenly hired and spent a lot only to now realize that he over spent and hired wrong. The company is firing people left right center. These days almost every other day you wake up to see the slack for someone or the other is deactivated. Even your manager would not know in some cases that their team member was fired. the joke is, it looks like even HR did not have clue in some instances. When you talk to more tenured team members and other teams you will see a pattern that if someone in the US does not like you, its super likely your job is on the line. If you disagree with that someone, you can rest assured you are next. You push for a change, there is huge resistance, If you try to discuss rationale you are fired. The show is run by finance. You will hear for almost everything - from hiring to buying a decent meal for employees - that finance has to approve. The spend situation is worse than before. for anything we ask our manager or HR the answer almost always is there is no budget or we have only limited budget. One day they will say you cannot sneeze in office as there is no budget to buy tissues.
