Pros

The students were by far the most rewarding part of the position, and being able to help them grow personally and professionally made the work meaningful. I appreciated the opportunity to strengthen student outcomes, improve processes, and prepare students for employment and certification success. I was fortunate to have direct leadership support from one individual who consistently advocated for both students and staff. The role also provided valuable experience in leadership, compliance, curriculum development, operations, and team management.

Cons

The work environment became increasingly difficult to sustain long term due to constant operational changes, inconsistent communication, unrealistic expectations, and a lack of overall support. There was often pressure placed on staff to compensate for broader institutional shortcomings while carrying significant responsibility with limited recognition. Minimal enrollment numbers made institutional goals difficult to realistically achieve, yet expectations continued to increase without the staffing, structure, or resources necessary to support them effectively. Over time, the imbalance between expectations and support led to significant professional burnout.
