Pros

Org mission 5* Great people 5* Great benefits/HR 5* Engaging and meaningful work 5* Well resourced for this kind of work 5* Main point: foundry10 Is doing important and amazing things in the world. In a time when kids are struggling so much with mental health, education challenges, and not feeling like the world was made for them, it is immensely wonderful there is an organization and the funder who is willing to help. Overall four stars out of five, base largely on the mission, the ability to do that work, and the great majority of the people who are great.

Poor org structure 2* Favoritism 1* Arbitrary power and promotions 2* Power and info hoarding 1* Weak and dishonest Sr. leaders with no accountability 1* Biggest flaw: Leaders always blame challenges and shortcomings in org on employees, rather than accepting responsibility for their lack of experience, closed off discussions, and poor decisions. Consequences are either blamed on employees, or explained away as "that's just how foundry10 works" even though so much of it is preventable.

Pros

Benefits throughout the COVID-19 pandemic have been generous 4-day workweek with still no more than 40 hr/week expected No internal emails before 8am or after 5pm (schedule send emails after 5pm) A positive mission focused on youth learning and the chance to create meaningful work Flexible hybrid work environment Positive, collaborative culture Compassionate HR team Inspiring, engaged, accessible and thoughtful leadership Lots of continued growth and development opportunities Annual hobby and wellness and WFH stipends Week long office closures over the winter holidays and in the summer

Still ironing out logistics of hybrid meetings (in office and via Zoom)

Pros

Meaningful cause and co-workers who care and are great to work with.

Cons

Management is very disorganized and quick to blame others. There is little leadership or clear direction and staff works hard to manage up and keep the lights on. Management also plays favorites with new hires who are often friends. Cronyism is a problem.
