Pros

I was an intern during COVID, so my whole internship was online. Communication was good and the paid employees were polite. I knew what I had to do and when I had to do it so it was easy to schedule my work. If interns wanted to schedule an informational interview with any of the assistants, they could. The assistants were more than happy to share their knowledge. That was nice.

Cons

Towards the later part of my internship, the interns began having weekly calls with any one of the film/tv/music/literary talent managers. (The manager leading the call would rotate each week.) It was an opportunity for the manager of the week to speak with the interns and offer industry advice. I think the person organizing these calls would tell the managers, "These interns have a lot to ask you," and then would tell the interns, "This manager has a lot to share with you." So each party went into the call with different expectations. (Both parties expected the other to do the talking.) It was a confusing experience and I'd often log off with a sour feeling because I could tell the manager was frustrated with our inability to guide the call/lack of questions. I remember one time, we got on a call with a particular manager. They were really rude about the fact that we didn't have enough to say, even though we were all told he would be guiding us through what he knew. Instead of pushing through and telling us at least a little bit about what he knew (to get the convo started), he just became passive aggressive and created a hostile environment. Nobody wants to ask questions in a hostile environment.
