Upbeat managers with proactive approaches. Nice fringe benefits like relaxed atmosphere, ice cream Fridays. Room for growth as a company, if not individually. Somewhat flexible schedule.
Cons
Lacked guidance and clear instruction - expectations of the position changed from interview/hire to something that would require other experience. Was provided an outline of new expectations but not given time to adjust to the new expectations before being terminated. Felt pressure to hire family member of a current employee, who then reported concerns or issues with management through family member rather than working within their team. Wasn't allowed to hire people with relevant experience for the team because of expense and instead was given part time/temps with little education/experience. Lack of experience with technology lead to criticism of the team for taking too long or doing things wrong due to inadequate instruction. Poor vacation management lead to all engineers being out of the office for a week while important tasks were needed from that team. This lead to a team without sufficient expertise attempting to do the work without a clear understanding or instruction. Low salaries and little included benefits. Very low PTO.
